Root beer on a stick? No way

Hey folks, I thought I'd just quickly share a news item with you that probably won't make it into the paper, but I thought it was amusing.

You know how the State Fair is coming up? Well, it seems our folks at Schell's Brewery, which has been selling its to-die-for 1919 Root Beer there for 20 years, has decided to use the "on-a-stick" cliche to its marketing advantage by being the anti-stick.

I'll leave you with the official press release from Schell's regarding this issue.

Have a great week and weekend, everyone. I'm off to Chicago for a Cubs game!

STICKLY SPEAKING!

The good folks at the 1919 Classic American Draft Root Beer stand located on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds have again shocked the world of food purveyors by announcing that they will continue to steadfastly refuse offering the 100% locally made, 1919 Classic American Root Beer and/or root beer floats on anything that is, looks like, and or in any way resembles, a stick!.

"Our quality control people simply won't have it!" stated Nick Postiglione, one of the booths co-owners "1919 is an old fashioned, hand made, draft root beer using only real granulated sugar and vanilla for the ingredients" he continued "and despite extensive lobbying from our fellow vendors as well as the enormous amount of pressure brought to bear by the international food stick manufacturing industry, I'm here to tell you, it's simply not going to happen!"

Made by the August Schell Brewing Company of New Ulm, Minnesota. 1919 Classic American Draft Root Beer is named to signify the year when hundreds of breweries were faced with the prospect of closing because of Prohibition (1919-1933). During that time, in order to keep their breweries open, several resourceful Brewmasters chose to make near beer, elixirs, and sodas! This practice was continued only until Prohibition was repealed, and
breweries went back to making beer.

1919 is one of the creamiest, full bodied, draft root beers made in America today. Available exclusively on draft (no bottles or cans) and constantly kept cold to preserve its unique taste. 1919 is also 100% alcohol-free and contains absolutely no corn syrup, gluten, or caffeine. "We've served over 400,000 gallons of 1919 here at the great Minnesota Get Together over the last 20 years and regardless of whatever trickery, deceptions or plots those
stick industry guys launch...we're gonna continue holding  the line by doing it right" Postiglione finished.
